The programme for Pewsey Music Festival has just been published, with a raft of big names confirmed for the day-long event.
Topping the bill is Jon Amor, who rose to prominence on the British blues circuit in the early nineties in one of two guitarists in The Hoax.
Jon has strong local connections: his father was born at Pewsey’s Cooper’s Arms – the venue for the festival – and the pub was the setting for some of The Hoax’s first few gigs.
The second-on-the-bill slot goes to Invisible Vegas, a four-piece from Oxford who “perform modern anthems with massive hooks”. Preceding them will be I Said Yes, who have supported recent Glastonbury headliners Florence and the Machine, and chalked up an impressive 94,000 plays on Spotify.
In all, there will be 12 bands performing on two stages, including guitarists The Showhawk Duo, who played an acoustic set on this morning’s (Wednesday) Radio 1 Live Lounge, Yes tribute act Fragile, reggae band The Erin Bardwell Collective, pop-folk I Said Yes, country-tinged The August List, and classic rock group Invisible Vegas. Local folksters The Yirdbards, rockers Everlust, and Marc Nelson’s blues trio.
Entertainment includes Spinal Tap on stilts, arts and crafts demonstrations, a magic show, balloon animals, face-painting, various stalls, and inflatables.
Food will be available with Carl Games and Nigel Wallace’s barbecue and salads, Siena Pizza’s wood-fired pizzas and Tale of Spice curries. Liquid refreshments, including everything from soft drinks to real ales, will be sold from The Cooper’s Arms beer tent, and The Italian Job Airstream will be on site serving proper coffee and more.
