The Marlborough Choral Society have announced that Emma Pooley is to be their soprano soloist for their Christmas concert at 7.30pm on Saturday, December 14 in St Mary’s Church.
Emma Pooley is a well known professional singer who started her singing career in London. She is now based in Marlborough where she has established a successful teaching practice.
Emma’s recent solo performances have included Mozart’s Vesperae Solennes, Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder and Mahler’s Fourth Symphony.
The concert programme will feature John Rutter’s Magnificat and some seasonally themed works including Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Christmas Carols, Benjamin Britten’s A Hymn to the Virgin, two works by the contemporary American composer Eric Whitacre, and popular audience participation carols.
There will be a retiring collection in aid of the Prospect Hospice, who have supported 420 patients in Marlborough and Pewsey since 2016. They are currently supporting nearly 50. Their recently established well-being centre at Savernake Hospital provides a range of services for local people.
The three popular hospice shops (two in Marlborough and one in Pewsey) each specialise in different ranges such as high value designer clothes, vintage items and boutique clothes.
