The cloud shifted just in time to give Marlborough a spectacular view of this morning’s partial eclipse of the sun.
This was the scene over Durley in the Savernake Forest, and nature responded most oddly: animals sat down in the fields, as the birds sang their evening song. At the peak of the eclipse, the birdsong stopped: it was all eerily quiet.
