The Arts Society Pewsey Vale – February lecture

The February lecture of The Arts Society – Pewsey Vale will take place at the Bouverie Hall at 2.30pm on Tuesday 4th February. Cindy Polemis is our speaker and she will talk on Miniature Portraits – Tiny Treasures Close to Our Hearts.
From diplomatic gifts to tokens of love, between the 16th and 19th centuries, miniatures were commissioned as small portraits, which could be held in the hand or placed inside lockets, creating an intimate relationship between the owner and sitter. This talk looks at the history of these tiny art treasures.
Cindy Polemis has worked as an art guide at Tate Britain and Tate Modern. Her area of knowledge spans 18th century European and British art right up to the contemporary international art scene. She enjoys drawing parallels between art and social history.
Doors open at 2.00pm for refreshments and visitors are always welcome – £7 cash or card on arrival.
