Kennet & Swindon Arts Society Lecture – A Right Royal Christmas
18 January 2021 @ 11:00 am
THE ARTS SOCIETY KENNET & SWINDON
The society is still operating very robustly but on zoom for the immediate future. We welcome all existing members and would be delighted to have guests for whom we make a charge of £5.
The next meeting of the Society will take place on zoom promptly at 11.00 on Monday January 18th. The site will be open from 10 00.
The lecture: A RIGHT ROYAL CHRISTMAS. Our royal families have always celebrated Christmas throughout their long history. Feasting on a spectacular scale characterised the medieval Christmas; full of culinary delicacies often of great originality, while lavish present-giving always marked the season. Royal Christmas traditions have, in many cases, become a familiar element of our own celebrations.
The lecturer: Roger Askew was a chorister at Wells cathedral and then a choral scholar at Magdalen College Oxford, where he read English. Having obtained a further degree in music, Roger became Director of Music at Daniel Stewart’s and Melville College in Edinburgh. On retiring in 2003 he moved south again and lives near Windsor.
Should you wish to join this zoomed lecture please contact Christopher Rogers (cjrogers43@gmail.com) or 01672861374 and he will give you details of payment and the link to the lecture.
Looking forward to welcoming you.
