Family Fête at The Watermill

6 July 2025 @ 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Joint CEOs Artistic Director Paul Hart and Executive Director Claire Murray and the whole team at Newbury’s Watermill Theatre are thrilled to announce that they will be hosting its Family Fête for a second year, on Sunday 6 July from 12 to 4pm.
After a successful event last summer, the Family Fête will take over the Watermill site with traditional fête fun including tombola, hoopla, splat the rat and a coconut shy. Activities for young children include a garden trail, face painting and crafts. Three Rivers Choir and Front Page Rogue will be performing live music sets across the day and stalls will include local businesses Melina and Alice, Bee Kind, Ethel’s Pies, Two Birds Style, Sooki Twist, Monika Kiss Crochet, Newbury Pride, Tea Room Bambi and The Peacock’s Nest.
The infamous Watermill duck race also returns with more races than ever this year, with start times at 1, 2 and 3pm.
Claire Murray, Executive Director of the Watermill said, “The Watermill is a theatre for everyone and a place with the joy of inventiveness and community at its heart. After the success of last year’s Family Fête, where we welcomed over 700 people to the Watermill, we’re so excited to welcome families back for another fun-filled day. All the funds raised from this celebration of music, local produce and family fun help us to continue our work with and within the local community, reducing social isolation, building confidence and developing communication skills.”
The Family Fête will serve to raise important funds for the Watermill Theatre’s artistic programme and community outreach work.
Prices for the event are: £3 for adults and £1.50 for under 16s (under 2s go free).
Advance booking is recommended, tickets can be purchased HERE or by calling the Box Office on 01635 46044. The bar will be open throughout the event, serving drinks and light bites.
