Hills Quarry Products has been presented with an award from the Mineral Products Association in recognition of the emphasis the company puts on health and safety across its operations.
The MPA Special Award for SMEs was presented to Alan Mackenzie, group director of Marlborough-based Hills Quarry Products, at the trade association’s prestigious Health & Safety Conference and Awards in London.
The event brought together 78 organisations, including members, contractors and other key stakeholders from the length and breadth of the UK to recognise, reward and share best practice, progress and results in health and safety.
Mr Mackenzie said: “ This award acknowledges the commitment shown by our well qualified and competent employees working at our sites, who are very conscientious about health and safety.
“This year we have improved and reviewed some of our basic systems to help individuals understand the procedures we operate, along with a determined effort to improve the relationship we have with contractors.”
Martin Isles, director of Health & Safety MPA, said, “The MPA Special Awards recognise companies that have made a clear effort to improve their health & safety performance and made progress on a number of key factors such as prevention of rule violations or lapses of attention, leadership and engagement, as well as briefing and induction procedures for contractors.”
Hills Quarry Products specialises in the production and supply of quarry products and ready-mixed concrete to the construction and agricultural sectors across Wiltshire and neighbouring counties.
