John Lewis is coming to Marlborough High Street – not in the form of a bricks and mortar store, but as one end of its growing on-line operation. You click to buy at johnlewis.com and you collect the goods from Waitrose.
From today (Tuesday, October 18) John Lewis’ Click and Collect service is available at Waitrose in Marlborough. If you order from the John Lewis website by 7pm, your purchase can be collected from Waitrose Marlborough after 2pm the following day – with no delivery charges.
By the end of the month there’ll be one hundred and nineteen Click and Collect points around the UK – providing a service that saves customers valuable time and costly petrol. And there’s no more waiting at home all day for deliveries.
Already Click and Collect accounts for around twenty per cent of all johnlewis.com orders. And it’s planned to spread the service further during 2012. So far the service is available at all twenty-nine John Lewis stores, five ‘at home’ shops and sixty-four Waitrose branches.
Guess which items from the 170,000 available through the John Lewis website have so far been the top Click and Collect sellers of 2011. Don’t bother, we can tell you:
1. Micro Mini T-Bar Scooter, Blue £54.95.
2. Maxi Micro Scooter, Black £94.95.
3. New Apple iPod Touch, 8GB, £184.95.
4. Miele GN Hyclean Vacuum Cleaner Bags, pack of 4 £9.50.
5. New Apple iPod Touch, 32GB, £249.00.
Just imagine: while the children are out on their scooters, all those people are listening to their favourite music while they vacuum the house.
