Marlborough’s retail community will be putting its best feet forward when 24 local businesses join forces to put on a fashion show in aid of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeal.
The Marlborough Chamber of Commerce event will feature clothes from Joules, Rowlands, Spirit, Landmark, Phase Eight, Belles, East, Joan Pressley and Jigsaw.
Jewellery will be supplied by David Dudley, glasses by Specsavers and the hair will be done by Essensuals, with styling by Di Lewis.
In addition to the catwalk show, there will be stalls by Joies Ferrer jewellery, Kirsty Craven Christmas decorations, Di Lewis photography, Shakin’ the Tree gifts, Charlotte Quest home ware, and Sammy Waddell lovely stuff.
Food and wine is being sponsored by Waitrose and and Primrose Hill will be supplying the flowers. Secret Agent Marketing has donated its marketing expertise, Wessex Print Centre has sponsored the production of posters and tickets, and Marlborough News Online is key media sponsor.
The event is being co-organised by Paul Shimell, franchise holder of Specsavers, and Effie Robins, the manager of Joules.
Paul, who is the president of the Chamber of Commerce, said: “Twenty four local businesses are pulling together to stage a great community event that showcases everything that Marlborough has to offer while raising money for a very good cause.”
Paul adds: “Marlborough has always been a smart town, fashion conscious and on the ball. That’s why there are so many top class dress and design shops in the High Street and why it is a target for those seeking the best.
“Our fashion show not only gives them the chance to showcase their wares – for all ages and at all prices – but is an example of the town coming together to fight the recession and, at the same time, boost a vital local charity that saves lives.
“It will be a fun occasion and we hope it will become the first of many events we can stage to ensure that Marlborough stays on target in showing off its fashion treasures.”
Andy Davies, manager of Waitrose, the biggest High Street business in Marlborough, which is also playing a part in the fashion show, welcomes the initiative too.
“I’m delighted that retailers across Marlborough are coming together for such a fantastic charity,” he says. “It’s a great opportunity for both the town to show its support for the air ambulance and for retailers to showcase the exciting brands we have on offer here in this remarkable market town.”
The fashion show takes place at Marlborough Town Hall on Thursday, November 3 from 7pm. Tickets, priced £7, are available from participating retailers.
