The Gazette & Herald newspaper is closing its Marlborough office at the end of the week.
A handwritten banner in the window of the Kingsbury Street informed readers “After more than 100 years in Marlborough this office closes on Friday October 28th.
“Thanks for your support over the last 44 years.”
The banner goes on to explain that reporter Nigel Kerton will be working from his home in Marlborough.
The newspaper’s owner, Newsquest, recorded a 7.2 percent drop in turnover to £339.3m in 2010, but still managed to increase profits by 15 percent after slashing 800 jobs and closing the company pension scheme.
The company has also undertaken a program of district office closures.
