Marlborough Tennis’ ‘Business 200 Club’ – a fundraising initiative designed to develop a higher level of community business involvement – was formerly launched last week to a large audience of local businesses and business people at their new six-court site at Port Hill, adjacent the Marlborough Golf Club.
The ‘Business 200 Club’ emerged as a route through which local business could enable tennis to develop throughout the whole community in the Marlborough and surrounding area.
A pilot for the scheme arose out of an initiative involving two of Marlborough Tennis’ supporting businesses – Handelsbanken Swindon and Bower & Bailey solicitors. They both recognised the benefits of providing and supporting a healthy community for Marlborough through tennis and were keen to support the Marlborough Tennis fundraising appeal.
As the name implies the cost to a business for including within the programme is £200 per year for two years, and funding raised through this scheme will be used to provide and enhance the fitness and wellbeing of the whole community through the provision of sports facilities and the outreach programme to schools and clubs in and around Marlborough area.
‘Business 200 Club’ members will benefit by having their logo on our website, and participation in an annual networking event as well as Community and local recognition in and around Marlborough for promoting a healthy and sociable environment in a sensitively constructed facility set in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Sarah Nichols of Marlborough Tennis said: “We hope that going forward ‘Business 200 Club’ members will have the opportunity to use the facilities through events and networking opportunities and see how their membership fund will benefit the playing of tennis across our outreach schools and community programmes.”
She added: “We also expect that they will want to consider the heath and welfare of their staff and encourage them onto the courts in due course. There are also lots of new coaching courses available for members and non members alike to help get everyone fit. From beginners to cardio there is something for everyone.”
