To celebrate the 1st XV’s first home league game of the new season Marlborough Rugby Club will be holding the inaugural Marlborough Beer Festival in their new extended bar area, which will be formally opened by England Women’s international fly half, Ceri Large.
The match (against Combe Down) kicks off at 3pm on the pitch just over Frees Avenue from the clubhouse, but Ceri will be there to open the new bar at 2pm.
Entry to the festival will be free to all, Rugby Club members and everyone else, and each of the 20+ beers and ciders on offer will be cost £2.50 per pint.
In addition to offering a wide selection of keenly priced beers and ciders, there will be a hog roast, bouncy castle for the kids and live music from Swindon’s Mick O’Toole, a mix of British folk punk, cider punk with an Irish twist in the evening at 8pm.
As well as being a star international for England Women Ceri Large works as a Community Rugby Coach for the RFU in Wiltshire, and captains Worcester at the weekends.
The newly refurbished bar area in the clubhouse will show Aviva Premiership Rugby and Barclays Premier League football live throughout the day.
“It’s a great introduction to Marlborough Rugby Club” said Festival organiser Darren Greening. “Marlborough RFC is there for the whole family, and visitors this Saturday can watch a key competitive match against Dorset & Wilts Division 1 North rivals Combe Down and relax in the newly refurbished clubhouse before and after”.
