Marlborough Golf Club Seniors Open attracts record entry

Marlborough Golf Club has hosted its annual Dick Lovett BMW Seniors Open - with a record 139 golfers taking part.

The overall winner was Marlborough golfer Brian Knox who took the first prize of £100 as well as the newly created Dick Lovett BMW Trophy.

The winner of the away prize in Division One went to Neil Lowrie of Chipping Sodbury. Winner of Division Two was David Jones of Cotswold Hills. They both received a cheque for £100.

David Ferris, chairman of Marlborough Seniors, noted it was Dick Lovett BMW Swindon fourth year as sponsor for the Club's Seniors Open: "The record number of entrants bears testimony to their generous support and shows how popular our Seniors Open has become. Players came from as far afield as Hull and Peterborough."

"We even had eighteen players from one club - Chipping Sodbury. Our Seniors Open is clearly a regular fixture in many players' diaries.”

Photo shows:  Three of the early starters, all from Marlborough Golf Club: Kevin Legg, Andy Cable and Tony Probert.
