Marlborough made it three wins in a row with a commanding victory at home to Trowbridge in the match kindly sponsored by The Merriman Partnership of Marlborough.
After winning the toss and deciding to bat Marlborough made 190-7 off their 50 overs thanks mainly to useful knocks from opener Ben Head 31 and equally vital contributions from Mike Bush 28 and George Fox 37 not out, whose style and technique means it is wrong for him to be labelled as a lower order batsmen.
Fox then continued his fine form with the ball bowling a brilliant opening spell of seam bowling, maintaining a great length whilst getting lift and bounce as he took 4-27 off his 10 overs.
Superstar Head then took 4-13 in front of his watching wife and family as Trowbridge crumbled to 67 all out in the 26th over.
Marlborough’s great bowling was backed with brilliant fielding with Tom Jacques taking a brilliant one handed catch whilst wicket keeper Guy Clarkson celebrated his return to the side with a brilliant diving catch to dismiss Trowbridge star batsmen Wesley Clarke.
Speaking after the game Marlborough Captain Tom Norris said “Head and Fox gave us impetus at the beginning and end of the innings while Tom Jacques set the tone in the field with a great catch, Fox found the perfect length and it was vintage Clarkson behind the stumps”.
Marlborough travel next week to local rivals Burbage.
