Marlborough’s survival hopes were given a massive boost with an emphatic 10 wicket win at home to Malmesbury in the match kindly sponsored by Track Tractors Ltd.
Winning the toss and putting the visitors into bat Marlborough were once again indebted to superstar Ben Head as the all rounder took 6-16 to rip through the Malmesbury batting line-up, as the away side were dismissed for just 65 off 32 overs.
Will Langton 2-16 and Alex Cox 1-21 also picked up wickets for Marlborough with a run out accounting for the other Malmesbury wicket.
In reply Marlborough openers John Carroll 42 not out and Nick Crabbe 23 not out quickly ensured that Marlborough reached their victory target in just 12 overs.
A delighted Marlborough skipper Nick Crabbe was full of praise for his sides performance ” I thought it was a disciplined bowling performance backed up in the field, Ben was superb, we chased the runs positively which was pleasing as we haven’t batted well this year”
