Oare Primary School raises funds for Young Minds

Oare Primary School’s Year 4 pupils wearing yellow for the #HelloYellow campaignOare Primary School’s Year 4 pupils wearing yellow for the #HelloYellow campaignOare Primary School’s Year 4 pupil, Seren McCarthy, challenged her classmates to come to school on Thursday October 10 wearing yellow and as a result raised £70 for the #HelloYellow campaign.

Thursday October 10 was World Mental Health Day. The #HelloYellow campaign was organised by the charity Young Minds, which aims to raise awareness of the need to look after children’s mental health.

Seren was inspired by a comic strip she read in the Beano and was determined to contribute to the the #HelloYellow campaign.

Oare Primary School is currently working on a project entitled ‘Growing Oare Minds’ and have been creating a piece of artwork with all of the children to help them understand how to keep their minds healthy.

Gudrun Osborn is Headteacher,  “It is so important that we teach our pupils about this.  With the pressures that potentially can affect children, such as SATS, we must support and nurture our children’s growth mind-set and ability to cope when things get difficult.”

“The creation of a whole school piece of art represents the launch of our project to develop understanding of this.”

“I was delighted and proud that Seren felt so moved by our work, that she suggested to me that we should all wear yellow and I am extremely excited to see where this project will continue to lead.”
