Wild West extravaganza raises funds for Chilton Foliat Primary School

Chilton Foliat's Wild West ExtravaganzaChilton Foliat's Wild West ExtravaganzaOver £2,600 was raised at Chilton Foliat’s Wild West themed summer fete on Saturday 16 June.  Organised by the Friends of Chilton Foliat Primary School, over 350 people enjoyed all things Wild West in an action packed afternoon.

The school choir opened the event with a performance of cowboy songs. Visitors could enjoy rodeo bull rides, the White Horse Line Dancers, Native American drumming sessions, dance displays, a Wild West fancy dress competition, face painting and traditional stalls and games.

Lucky winners of the raffle were treated to two tickets for the Garstonbury Festival on 14 July, a specially commissioned framed pet portrait worth £395 by local artist Alex McGarry and a bespoke set of cushions and a lampshade by Rose Cottage Soft Furnishings.

“The summer fete is one of the highlights of the school year and it is always a joy to welcome the wider community to the school,” commented Caroline Spindlow, Headteacher at Chilton Foliat Primary School.  “The school is aiming to raise funds to build a new fit-for-purpose classroom as well as additional learning spaces.”

Samantha Wolcough, Chair of Governors, said “Somehow, the school’s Friends have yet again managed to pull out all the stops and organise the most phenomenal event, bringing together children, staff, ex-pupils, families and members of the local community, church and further afield.”

“We are indebted to the team of volunteers for committing countless hours of work that went on behind the scenes.  A huge thanks goes to them all, and of course the generous sponsors and raffle prize donors for transporting us all into the Wild West while raising money for the school.  What a fabulous afternoon we have all had!”
