Premier Inn’s new 69 bed Marlborough hotel opened this afternoon (Monday 16 December) and tonight’s first guests have checked in. Mayor Cllr Mervyn Hall cut the purple ribbon and the 805th Premier Inn was declared open.
“A long overdue and welcome addition for the Marlborough” stated Mayor Hall.
“It’s a very exciting venture for us” said Premier Inn Regional Operations Manager Simon Nisbet. ”It will bring ample job opportunities to the town” he added, explaining how he started in Nottingham washing pots and worked his way up through the organisation to a senior management role so there are real opportunities for anyone joining the group. Hotel Manager Jason Glynn explained how he also started with the Premier Inn group after leaving college and also worked his way up into hotel management, noting that “this is my first new opening”.
“There are twenty five staff at present but this will grow” explained Project Manager, Chris Weston.
The new hotel features a restaurant for breakfast and evening meals, something that sets the new Marlborough Premier Inn apart from many others in the group. The design of the hotel is styled differently from many others in the group, with dormer windows on the upper floor, ‘it has been designed to be in keeping with the area” noted REgional Operations Manager Simon Nisbet.
“We are targeting the leisure market” said Chris Weston, explaining how they carefully researched the market and recognised that Marlborough and the surrounding area is gaining popularity as a tourist destination – “especially so with the new ‘Great West Way’ tourist initiative bring visitors to the area” added Mayor Mervyn Hall.
Marlborough’s new Premier Inn will “bring much needed hotel space to the town” added Mayor Hall, “it will help businesses and enable many more visitors to the town to actually stay in the town rather than base themselves away elsewhere.
