There are exciting developments at Burbage Primary School. Not only has the school welcomed a new principal, Zoe Garbutt, but it has taken over the running of the pre-school, allowing a seamless transition for children moving from the pre-school to starting school full-time.
Zoe Garbutt, who previously was Acting Head at Shalbourne School and Academic Mentor for Primary PGCE students training with Excalibur Academies, is excited about the new developments.
She told Marlborough.news: “I am very excited to be here. The school is at the heart of a very supportive community with fantastic facilities and great space for outdoor learning. Taking over the pre-school means that those children have access to all of Burbage School’s facilities. The pre-school can join us for special events and assemblies and older children can become involved in mentoring the younger ones. The close links provide a smooth transition to Reception.”
The Pre-School Manager is Vicky Camp, “Burbage Pre-School is a friendly local pre-school providing early years childcare in a safe, happy and stimulating environment. We offer spaces for children aged from 2 years upwards and also offer 30 hours funding. We all enjoy the laughter and togetherness that comes from working with the children. No two days are the same.”
Earlier in the year the school opened a new state of the art classroom for Early Years. “The children are thriving,” commented Zoe. “As a ‘Countryside Classroom’ school, we very much believe in connecting children to the natural environment and there are strong themes related to this throughout our curriculum. We have vibrant and inspirational teaching, focused on creating memorable experiences for children as they grow.”
The school is also celebrating the 2019 Key Stage 2 Sats results which were all above the National Average.
Burbage School offers wrap-around care for all children from 7:30am to 6pm every day. There is a designated classroom and many activities on offer.
If you would like to visit the school there are a number of events being held over the next few weeks. On Saturday October 5 from 10am to 12pm two scavenger hunts are being held for the under 5’s and the 5’s and over.
