Marlborough Rising: tickets now available, website live and new office open...

Marlborough Rising's new office at 42 High Street - the former Smiths Gore site next door to Rick SteinMarlborough Rising's new office at 42 High Street - the former Smiths Gore site next door to Rick SteinMarlborough Rising line-up and schedule has now been confirmed with tickets on sale for all performances in each of the four venues across the three days of Friday 7 to Sunday 9 September.  Their office is now open at 42 High St, formerly the Smiths Gore premises next door to Rick Stein, who have kindly donated the space.  The marlboroughrising.com website is fully operational with comprehensive details of who's where and when, artists, volunteering and online ticket sales.

The four venues, each with a different theme, are Priory Gardens Marquee (main stage), Castle & Ball (for Rock & blues), St Peter's (for softer Jazz, accoustic and folk acts) and St Mary's Church.

Scouting for Girls will be headlining the main stage in Priory Gardens on the Friday evening (supported by Avebury's George Wilding) whilst million-album-selling London four piece, Turin Brakes top the bill on the Saturday night with internationally-renown Joe Stilgoe bring his vibrant entertaining style to Marlborough on the Sunday afternoon and supported by another Marlborough favourite who has achieved national acclaim, Ben Cipolla.

St Mary's will host a very special and unique evening on the Friday with 'Musical Time Machine', a performance that has been put together for one night only and exclusive to Marlborough Rising.  This features a cast of actors and singers who have been regulars in some of the West Ends most successful shows, from Les Miserable to The Play That Goes Wrong and everything in between will perform a night of travelling through space and time.  Hear some of the greatest numbers from some of the biggest scores.

Roving Crows will be headlining the Castle & Ball on the Friday, their arresting, singular sound that pushes the boundaries of the Celtic Folk genre has enabled them to carve out a niche in the UK folk music scene since early 2009.  Longtime Marlborough favourite Ray Harris takes centre stage on Saturday evening at the Caste & Ball, bringing his signature blend of dancefloor jazz with latin vibes, a touch of funk & soul, and Brazilian sounds coming directly from the 60s and 70s.  And sprinkled with a bit of The Doors.......

Ray will have plenty of competition on the Suturday night at the Castle & Ball from hard driving local Blues band Barrelhouse, coming fresh from a momentous performance at the recent MantonFest.

American acoustic guitarist and singer-songwriter Brooks Williams leads St Peter's on Friday, with Pete Gage bringing his mix of laid-back standard blues tunes with a jazzy tinge on the Saturday evening.

Tickets can be purchased online directly from the Marlborough Rising website, or from the new office.   Marlborough Rising are also looking for volunteers for stewarding - interested?  Cick here.
