Pewsey’s Shed Alehouse has notched up yet another award of recognition in what has been quite incredible twelve months. Landlord Gordon Edwards and wife Sam picked up the ‘Service to the Communitry’ award certificate from Pewsey Parish Council last week, one of only a small number of Pewsey organisations to be recognised as such.
The Parish Council recognise people or groups that have made a contribution to the Pewsey community and Gordon and Sam’s Shed Alehouse were awarded the accolade for creating a new business that is thriving and not only bringing people together but also bringing new people into the village.
“We were overwhelmed to receive this award from Pewsey Parish Council. It means a lot that it came from the village we serve” said Gordon. The Shed Alehouse may only be small, not open every evening (closed Mondays and Tuesdays) or until late on the other days of the week but when open it thrives and buzzes with chat and activity. And home-grown ales, some brewed by Gordon and others specially selected for their flavour and quality as well as a carefully chosen range if wines and soft drinks.
This latest recognition comes hard on the heels of being voted ‘Best Pub for Drinks‘ in Devizes MP Claire Perry’s Constituency-wide ‘Best Local Pub Awards’, Gordon’s own ‘Minal Tap’ ale being awarded ‘Beer of the Festival‘ at last autumn’s Swindon’s CAMRA Beer festival, and the Shed’s Cask Marque award last August.
