At last week’s Manton Village Hall AGM MantonFest Chair, Roger Grant and Musical Director, Stuart Whant presented the Nicki Evans, Chair of the Village Hall committee with a cheque for £3,000, raised by last year’s MantonFest.
“Many thanks to MantonFest” said Nicky. ”This will go towards the cost of restoring the interior of the Hall” she added, explaining that “this will improve our chances of gaining a grant for the balance that we need to carry out the necessary works.”
“We are very pleased to be able to help and support our local village hall” said Roger. ”MantonFest is a local family-focused festival, a great family day out and we always support local charities, and the village hall is a very important part of the Manton community” he added. ”This year MantonFest will be supporting our local Devizes based Alzheimer support charity”.
This year’s MantonFest is being held on Saturday 30 June in the same location – the field adjacent to Preshute Church. ”Ticket sales are very strong so far” said Roger. ”Every year advance ticket sales get better as MantonFest gets more widely known and anticipated, and the number sold this year are way beyond any previous year with our ‘Early Bird’ offer of £15 per ticket ending on 31st March” he explained.
This year’s line-up will be headed by Eurovision star Katrina of the Waves, supported by John Coghlan’s Quo, ‘Whole Lotta Led’ the acclaimed Led Zepellin tribute band and returning favourites the Swinging Blue Jeans. Local bands such as Barrelhouse, Skedaddle, Empty Gestures and the Harry Williams band will be supporting and bring their strong local followings, whilst up-and-coming Manton singer, Ed Witcomb will be holding the day together by performing during the change-overs.
