We went in two minibuses with our Gambian partners.  On our bus there was a huge sing-song.

Everyone had so much energy.  Yet Maisie managed to sleep through it all!  We arrived an hour later at the shore of the Gambia River.

Thriving Through Venture in Gambia - August '19 - George Amos' blog

My first impressions of Gunjur?  Where do I start?  I suppose you have to start with how different it is.  The culture shock. But actually, it’s been really quite easy to fit in.  And it’s the scenery, the whole culture, everything. 

That’s what we found out today.  Seeing how the local people live their lives, how they get on with their days. It’s like:  this is how they live, and it’s how we’re going to live for the next two weeks.  That’s exciting, and it makes me nervous too. Intrigued.

We meet migrants who took the back route but failed and returned to Gambia - Maisie Medcalf's blog

Gunjur - A birthday blog...but with a horrifying story:  This morning, when we got to the TARUD offices where we’ve been working, everyone sang Happy Birthday – several times, in English and in Mandinka.  It was amazing - they were so nice.  And my Gambian partner, Mariatou, gave me some beautiful material which I’m going to have made into clothes.
